Thousands Attended A Tribute to the Military

2007 Thank You BBQ

The Greater Fort Worth Area Civic Leaders Association organized and hosted a free Bar-b-que for the entire Naval Air Station Joint Reserve Base, for all of its military personnel and civilian employees. The event was held Friday, April 20th, from 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Many contributing sponsors helped fund the event.

The Thank You Bar-B-Que is the Civic Leaders' way of saying, "Thank you for all that they do for our country and our community". 165 impressive awards were presented starting with the Mayors' Award, awarded by the Mayors of Tarrant County, followed with commands, units, and individuals for service to our country and community. A plane load of wounded military were flown in for the event from Fort Hood, Texas. They were joined at their tables by three Tuskegee Airmen and Kenneth Davis, running back in four Super Bowls. They also presented the wounded with individual awards.

The Patriot Guard Riders were also presented an award for their important role in keeping the funerals of fallen military a dignified service to be attended by family and friends. Awards were presented to the Fort Worth Armed Forces Bowl Committee and to Bell Helicopter, the Bowl Sponsor. The Bowl did an excellent job of recognizing and honoring the military in this area.
